FAQ'S WAXING

HOW DO I PREP FOR MY WAXING?

Trimming your hair is especially helpful as this can be very messy, adding time and cost to your waxing session but please do not over trim. The hair must still be at least a 1/4 inch of the wax to grab. If you recently shaved please wait at least 3 weeks before booking your next appointment.

For pain management, many clients find relief in taking a pain reliever 30 – 45 minutes prior to waxing.

Cleanse prior to service: Best to shower before your appointment or carry a sanitary wipe to freshen up.

Your assistance is required to pull skin tight to avoid skin tears and bruising. Pull the skin tight until AFTER we have removed the wax strip.  You will be asked to move your legs into different positions to allow us into those nooks and crannies!

WILL IT HURT?  There is nothing comfortable about pulling a large, bulbous root from an extremely delicate area of the skin!  I promise to do my best to keep you as comfortable as possible!

WILL MY SKIN BE IRRITATED AND FOR HOW LONG?  Most commonly, the skin will be very red, bumpy and swollen.  Some experience bleeding from the follicle due to the size of the hair root and because each hair root has a blood vessel under it.  You'll be sensitive to hot water and the skin may even feel hot and sunburned for up to 48 hours.... possibly longer depending on your sensitivity.

WILL I HAVE BREAKOUTS OR INGROWNS? This area of the skin is pretty confined.  Underwear/clothing doesn't allow the skin to breathe, trapping sweat and bacteria.  Remember that you do have sweat glands in this area.  Your follicle is wounded during the waxing process and becomes prone to bacteria that can cause pustules and breakouts post waxing.  So yes, it is a strong possibility you will get breakouts and ingrown hairs. Following after care will prevent this.

HOW DO I CONTROL INGROWNS AND BREAKOUTS? Applying thayer's witch hazel daily to the area can be helpful as it is a natural antiseptic and  anti-inflammatory.  I highly recommend exfoliating the skin with a scrub or mit or using an ingrown hair serum.

I FOUND SOME STRAY HAIRS AFTER WAXING! It is not always possible to get every last hair.

Here are a few reasons why stray hairs are left behind:

  • Wax doesn't always pick up fine hair.

  • You may have thick, dense hair that refuses to come out in certain areas. If we attempt to wax over an area that we've already waxed, you could lose skin.

  • Sometimes the hair is just too short to come out or the hair broke off due to deep, stubborn roots.

  • Darker skin does camouflage the hair.

  • When I encounter stray hairs, I will tweeze if time allows.

  • I do guarantee my waxing services! If you find yourself with a large patch of hair, please call me within 24 hours and I will gladly book you for a free touch up! You must call within 24 hours in order to receive the touch up.

FAQ’S LASH LIFT

What is a lash lift?
The Sugar Lash Pro Lash Lift is a low-maintenance semi permanent lash curling system that lifts and enhances a client’s natural lashes for up to 8 weeks (a lash hair's natural life cycle) giving the appearance of open well rested eyes. This service is ideal for clients who either cannot tolerate lash extensions, are allergic to adhesives/latex from lash extensions, or simply want a zero maintenance enhancement to their every day look. For your wellness, we require all clients to review and sign a service form to ensure you receive the utmost quality and care during your appointment.

Can anyone get a lash lift?
Just about anyone can as long as you have healthy lashes and are free of any eye disorders. If you are using prescription eye drops, have undergone Lasik or any medical procedures within the last 90 days it is recommended to consult with your physician prior to making an appointment. If you are a teen seeking this service please be aware your parent or guardian is required to attend the entire duration of your your appointment and sign a release form authorizing the studio to preform this service on you. Teens 16 and younger will not be serviced. For your wellness, we DO NOTrecommend wearing contacts to your appointment and you must arrive without eye makeup. Not wearing eye makeup to your appointment allows your service to run smoothly and for lifting solutions to process thoroughly.

What kind of after care can I expect to follow post lash lifting treatment?
There's zero down time post service, yay! You may continue with your regular use of makeup/skincare products, falsies, waterproof mascara and concealer after 48 hours. With that being said, we kindly ask that you follow your post care instructions given to you at the end of your appointment. Key points include:

  • Do not wet or wash your lashes for 24 hours to ensure your lift is 100% cured

  • Do not touch or rub your eyes for 24 hours

  • Although you will not need to, please do not attempt to curl or crimp your lashes with a curler after receiving this service

  • Do not sleep on your face (sleeping on your sides or on your stomach) for 48 hours as this can crimp or misshape lashes

  • Do not wear false lashes for 48 hours

  • Do not apply eye creams or use oils on the face for 48 hours

  • DO WASH YOUR EYES AFTER 24 HOURS TO MAINTAIN GOOD HYGIENE

Who should NOT receive this service?
I always recommend to my clients to always ask your physician or optometrist when in doubt! Clients who will not be approved for a Keratin Lash Lift are individuals who..

  • Have undergone Lasik or any medical procedure within the last 90 days

  • Are currently on or have been on prescription medications to treat conditions/disorders in the last 90 days

  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding (I require a printed and signed authorization from your doctor if you insist on receiving this service)

  • Individuals who are on hormone treatments/therapy (please consult with your doctor as this can cause your skin and body to be unusually sensitive)

  • Individuals who have had an eye injury within the last 60 days

  • Individuals who have had pink eye, styes, or any infection within the last 60 days, even while using medication

  • Individuals who have eczema, dermatitis, or related skin disorders located on the face or eyes

  • Individuals who have been diagnosed with glaucoma

What is the booking policy for this service?
I have a 24 hour cancellation and strict tardy policy as with all other services offered in our studio. Remember: being late is NOT OK as any time taken away from this service can jeopardize your Lash Lift processing and impact your end result. If you have short lashes please get in touch with me to arrange an in-person consultation before making an appointment or you may book one online on our Book Now tab. Consultations are free of charge.
